Academic Competitiveness and National SMART Grants - Academic Competitiveness Grants are available to students for their first and second academic years of college. American Legion Auxiliary National Presidents Scholarship 2008-2009 - There will be fifteen (15) scholarships awarded for the year 2008-2009. Three (3) scholarships will be awarded in each Division of the American Legion Auxiliary; one in the amount of $2,500; one in the amount of $2,000; and one in the amount of $1,000. All are gift scholarships and are not loans. National Merit Scholarship Program - The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college scholarships. National Science Foundation STEM Scholarship Program (NSF-STEM) at Suffolk County Community College - The NSF STEM scholarship program at Suffolk County Community College provides a unique, educational enrichment environment for students pursuing careers in science (biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space, geology, information technology) technology, engineering and mathematics fields. Those students accepted into the program will be provided with academic support services to enhance their college experience and increase their likelihood of success. Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Nursing Scholarship - Four-year NROTC scholarships are also available to students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). Nursing Scholarship Program School Year 2009-2010 - The Nursing Scholarship Program (NSP or "Nursing Scholarship") is a competitive Federal program which awards scholarships to individuals for attendance at schools of nursing. The scholarship consists of payment for tuition, fees, other reasonable educational costs, and a monthly support stipend. In return, the students agree to provide a minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical service (or an equivalent part-time commitment, as approved by the NSP) at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses. NYS Lotterys Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Scholarships - The NYS Lotterys Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Scholarships are awarded to student leaders who demonstrate strong academic performance, participate in extracurricular activities, and display a commitment to community service. A $5,000 scholarship is distributed in payments of $625 per semester to one graduating senior from each participating public and private high school in New York State. NYS Memorial Scholarships - Memorial Scholarships for Families of Deceased Firefighters, Volunteer Firefighters, Police Officers, Peace Officers and Emergency Medical Service Workers provide financial aid to children, spouses and financial dependents of deceased firefighters, volunteer firefighters, police officers, peace officers*, and emergency medical service workers who have died as the result of injuries sustained in the line of duty in service to the State of New York. SUNY Stonybrook Community College Honors College Scholarships - Honors College scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement (e.g., high school or prior college grade point average, SAT or ACT scores, leadership, participation in extra-curricular activities and/or honors programs). Every admitted Honors College student will receive some level of scholarship support. Continuation of the scholarship is contingent upon meeting the Honors College criteria. TEACH Grant - The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. The American Dream Scholarship Program - Established in partnership with the United Negro College Fund, the American Dream Scholarship Program is open to African Americans with financial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), who meet Pell Grant eligibility criteria, and are enrolled full time at approved,accredited, undergraduate institutions. We also administer several scholarship programs offered to American Indian students attending tribal colleges and state and private universities. The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Scholarship - The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Scholarship offers a $10,000 award to two graduating high school seniors with documented learning disabilities (LD) who are pursuing undergraduate degrees. The AXA Achievements Scholarship - The AXA Achievements Scholarship in association with U.S. News & World Report provides $670,000 in annual scholarships to young people throughout the nation. The BURGER KING Scholars Program - Students may apply from public, private, vocational, technical, parochial and alternative high schools throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (CFGB) Scholarship Program - Since 1924 the Foundation has been awarding scholarships to students from Western New York. The Discover Scholarship Program - The Discover Scholarship Program awards up to $300,000 in scholarships annually to high school juniors nationwide to support continued education and training beyond high school. The Elks National Foundation - The Elks National Foundation provides more than $3.64 million in college scholarships each year through its three scholarship programs. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's Young Scholars Program - The Foundations Young Scholars Program is designed to nurture exceptional students who have demonstrated, through academic excellence and extracurricular activities, that they have the potential to excel. Students apply for the program in 7th grade, enter the program in 8th grade, and continue through high school. The KFC Colonel's Scholars - The Scholarship offered by the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program provides funding for tuition, fees books and room and board. Awards can be up to $5,000 per year. The scholar could receive up to $20,000 over four years to help complete a bachelor's degree. The Kimbo Foundation - The mission of The Kimbo Foundation is to recognize and encourage students who show exceptional academic achievement and leadership potential for the Korean community, and to provide them with financial support in their endeavor to study. The Kohls Kids Who Care® Scholarship Program - The Kohls Kids Who Care® Scholarship Program recognizes and rewards young volunteers (ages 6-18) who help make their communities a better place. The Maine Association of Conservation Districts $2,000 Scholarships to the University of Maine, Orono - The University of Maine at Orono will award up to THREE $2,000 scholarships to Envirothon Team Members. One scholarship will be awarded to a Team Member admitted to the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry & Agriculture , Fall 2009. To be considered for these scholarship awards, the Envirothon Team Member must send in information postmarked by May 1, 2009 The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program - The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program accepts applications once a year from students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment at an accredited health professions training program in an eligible primary care discipline: medicine (MD or DO), dentistry, family nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife or physician assistant. You can apply before your first year or after you have finished one or more years of school. The National Science & Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (National SMART Grant) - A National SMART Grant will provide up to $4,000 for each of the third and fourth years of undergraduate study. The New York Farm Bureau Agricultural Youth Scholarship 2010 - Scholarship open to High School Seniors who will continue their education to prepare for a career in some way connected to the diverse agricultural industry. Candidates may live or work on a farm or be involved with agriculture via any avenue. Family Farm Bureau membership or Student Farm Bureau membership is required. The New York Times College Scholarship - The New York Times College Scholarship Program provides scholarships for up to 20 high school seniors. Scholarship awards are up to $7500 for four-year. The program is open to high school seniors who are attending a public, parochial or private school in New York City. Candidates must have demonstrated academic achievement, community service and a commitment to learning especially in the face of financial and other obstacles. The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program - The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is a federally funded, state-administered program to recognize exceptionally able high school seniors who show promise of continued excellence in postsecondary education. The Ron Brown Scholar Program - The Ron Brown Scholar Program annually awards ten to twenty $40,000 college scholarships to extraordinary African-American high school seniors. No restrictions are placed on the students' choices of school or discipline. The Sallie Mae Fund -African-American Initiative - The fund created the African-American Initiative, a multipart campaign designed to improve higher education access among African-American students. The Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement - The Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement are awarded each year to students with the greatest number of scores of 5 on eight AP math and science exams, as well as to one teacher from every state for excellence in teaching AP mathematics, science, and technology courses. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure College Scholarship Award Program - The Komen College Scholarship Award recipients are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service and participation, financial need, and demonstrated leadership potential. Recipients will be expected to be ambassadors for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the breast cancer movement within their social networks and on their collegiate campus. LaBrecque Smart Start Scholarship Program provides 40 graduating seniors from New York City public and private high schools with tuition for four years. Smart Start is more than a scholarship. UNCF-Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarships - The UNCF-Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Awards are intended to encourage the interest of African American undergraduate students in furthering their science education and pursuing biomedical science careers by providing tuition support and opportunities for research experience in a state-of-the-art industrial laboratory. At least 15 UNCF-Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Awards will be made per year. The competition is open to all students who meet the eligibility criteria. Award recipients will be selected based on the applicants abilities and accomplishments United Negro College Fund Special Programs Corporation - Each year, 100 students receive one-year competitive scholarships of up to $10,000 and a paid internship relevant to their chosen field. Additionally, students benefit from year-round tutoring and mentoring. The scholarships and internships are renewable for up to three years provided the students continue to meet the academic requirements. USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships - USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships are open to high school seniors, currently enrolled college students or incoming college students who: Plan to enroll or are enrolled in full- or half-time undergraduate or full-time graduate-or professional-degree coursework at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.
